K-Pop Auditions in Korea: Visa-Free Countries and Travel Checklist
Check visa-free country examples, the 2026 K-ETA exemption, travel costs, and documents before a K-pop audition in Korea.
Preparing for a K-pop audition in Korea? Check your entry requirements and travel budget before the callback arrives. An invitation does not automatically include flights, a hotel, or visa support.
A little planning now can save you a scramble when you get a callback.
Three things to check before you travel
| Check | What to find out |
|---|---|
| Entry requirements | Whether your passport and planned activities require a visa or K-ETA. |
| Travel costs | Who pays for flights, accommodation, and local transportation. |
| Company support | Whether the company provides an invitation letter, supporting documents, or application assistance. |
Which countries can visit Korea without a visa?
The United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, and several European countries are among the countries eligible for short visa-free visits. Here are selected examples, not the complete list.
| Region | Visa-free countries and regions: examples |
|---|---|
| North America | United States, Canada |
| Oceania | Australia, New Zealand |
| Asia | Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao |
| Europe | United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, Austria |
Checked October 7, 2026: The countries and regions listed above are also temporarily exempt from K-ETA through December 31, 2026. Permitted stays vary by nationality. See Korea Tourism Organization’s entry guide and the official K-ETA exemption notice.
For long-term training or paid work, you may need different permission. Tell your Korean embassy or consulate what you’ll be doing and how long you plan to stay. They can confirm what you need.
Will the company pay for your flight and hotel?
Ask what the company will pay for before you book. If you’re covering the trip yourself, include flights, a place to stay, and local transportation in your budget.
Should you check your visa before passing the first round?
Yes—start researching when you apply. A callback date can arrive before you have time to gather documents and complete an application.
- Check whether your passport requires a visa.
- Ask which visa or entry permission you need for your audition.
- Find out which documents you need and how long processing may take.
- Ask whether the company needs to supply an invitation or other supporting paperwork.
Use the Korea Visa Portal and your Korean embassy or consulate for requirements specific to your visit.
Is K-ETA the same as a visa?
No. Check visa eligibility and K-ETA requirements separately. If you qualify for visa-free travel, check whether K-ETA is required or temporarily waived for your nationality on the official K-ETA website.
Will the company arrange your visa?
Ask directly. Confirm whether the company provides supporting documents, helps with the application, or covers any fees. Check what’s included in your invitation.
Your pre-travel checklist
- Verify the invitation through an official company contact.
- Confirm the date and location of the in-person round.
- Check visa and K-ETA requirements.
- Prepare the required documents.
- Confirm who pays for flights and accommodation.
- If you are a minor, confirm guardian requirements.
Frequently asked questions
Does passing round one guarantee entry to Korea?
No. You still need to meet Korea’s entry requirements.
Can I attend an audition on a tourist visa?
Tell your Korean embassy or consulate the audition schedule and activities before applying. Confirm that your permission covers the visit you are planning.
Can I stay in Korea if I become a trainee?
Confirm the arrangements again if you receive a trainee offer. A short audition visit and long-term training require separate planning.
